ABSTRACT
An intralobar pulmonary sequestration was diagnosed by ultrasonography in a child presenting with chronic respiratory infection. Chest radiograph showed multicystic infiltration in the left lung base. This was diagnosed as cystic bronchiectasis and failed to clear up in spite of adequate antibiotic therapy. Ultrasound (real-time) examination suggested pulmonary sequestration, and an aberrant blood supply was demonstrated. Subsequent angiography, surgery and pathological examination of the resected segment confirmed the diagnosis.
