Clinical Study on the Renal Tuberculosis / 대한비뇨기과학회지

ABSTRACT
A Clinical and statistical study was made on 54 cases of renal tuberculosis seen during the period from January, 1973 to December, 1978. The results are summarized as follows 1. The incidence of the renal tuberculosis was 8.6% of all urological in-pts. 2. Age and sex distribution showed that 33 cases (61%) were male and 2l cases (39%) were female. 16 cases (29.6%) were it 20-29 years and 11 cases (20.4%) were in 40-49 years. 3. 10 cases (18.5%) were affected in both sides and 27 cases were affected in right side. 4. The initial symptoms were mostly those of vesical symptoms, frequency in 75.9%, hematuria in 53.7% and pain on urination in 51.9%. 5. 24 cases (44.4%) had past history of tuberculous disease or presented other tuberculous lesions, of which pulmonary tuberculosis and tuberculous epididymitis were noted it 37.5% respectively. 6. 29.6% of the patients consulted within one year to five years after the onset of symptoms. 7. Urinalysis revealed hematuria in 77.8%, pyuria in 75.9% end tubercle bacilli were found by staining in 42.6%. 8. The intravenous pyelographic finding in 49 cases of renal tuberculosis were delayed visualization (40.8%), moth-eaten appearance (38.8%) calcification (30.6%) and calyectasi (28.6%). 9. Cystoscopy showed that 24 cases (53.3%) were in active lesion of the bladder. 10. Patients were treated with SM, INAH. PAS, Myambutol, Rifampin. The patients who had an autonephrectomized kidney were treated by nephrectomy after medical treatment.
