Plastic surgical treatment for malignant soft tissue tumors and refractory wounds / 中华整形外科杂志

ABSTRACT
<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the advantages of plastic surgical treatment for malignant soft tissue tumors and refractory wounds.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>According to the lesion type, location, and size, malignant tumors were excised including the 3 - 5 cm normal tissue around the tumor and the refractory wounds were debrided completely. The adjacent flaps or musculocutaneous flaps, or free flaps were selected to repair the defect.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>From 2003 to 2006, 21 cases were treated. All the flaps survived completely. The patients were followed up for 2 - 3 years with relapse in only one case with tumor. All the refractory wound healed.</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Excellent results can be achieved with plastic surgical technique for malignant soft tissue tumors and refractory wounds. Plastic surgical technique enhances the therapeutic effect of other surgical treatment.</p>
