ABSTRACT

Objective:

To observe gastrointestinal perista ltic function in premature infants in the supine or prostrate post itons .

Methods:

24 premature infants were chosen and kept in the supine or pron e positions.Fluid retention volume in the stomach was recorded and compared statistically.

Results:

The prone group had a lower fluid retention volume.Ther e was a significant difference between the two groups (P<0.001 ). ConculsionThe prone position is a modera te position that improves premature infants' gastrointestinal peristalti c function,digestion and assimilation.
