ABSTRACT
Objective To investigate the effect and safety of oxcarbazepine adjunctive therapy in the treat-ment of adults with partial seizures with intractable epilepsy .Methods 76 patients with refractory partial-onset epi-lepsy were selected as research subjects .Patients remained the unchanged antiepileptic drugs in the past ,based on the use of this treatment ,oxcarbazepine was administered in the observation period of one year .The self-controlled open-label study was used to observe the therapeutic effect of the treatment program , retention rate , adverse events , and security. Results 69 patients were followed up for 12 months, the retention rate was 90.79%,the total effective rate was 44.93%,and compared with before treatment ,the total frequency decreased 42.11%(χ2 =36.810,P=0.000), the incidence of SPS(pure partial onset seizures) decreased 42.32%(χ2 =7.864,P=0.046),the incidence of CPS (complex partial seizures) decreased 39.67%(χ2 =7.872,P=0.047),the incidence of SGS(partial seizures,gen-eralized seizures following epilepsy ) decrease 41.96%,(χ2 =7.869,P=0.047).34 cases(49.28%) occurred adverse reactions, including drowsiness 5 cases ( 14.71%), dizziness 3 cases ( 8.82%), headache 13 cases (38.26%),nausea 6 cases(17.65%),inattention 2 cases(5.88%),fatigue 5 cases(14.71%).The adverse reac-tions were mild to moderate ,and were spontaneously relieved or subsided without specific clinical treatment or after stopping treatment .Conclusion Oxcarbazepine in the treatment of adults with refractory partial-onset epilepsy has significant treatment effect ,it is safe, well tolerated, which is worthy of widely used in clinical .
