ABSTRACT
Objective To observe the effects ofHuolisu oral liquid combined with sertraline on the serum levels of norepinephrine (NE) and 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in patients with postpartum depression due to Qi-Blood deficiency, and to explore therapeutic efficiency. Methods A total of 82 patients with postpartum depression due to Qi-Blood deficiency were randomly divided into a treatment group with 43 patients and a control group with 39 patients. The patients in the treatment group were treated withHuolisu oral liquid and sertraline, and those in the control group were treated with sertraline alone for 8 weeks. Severity of depression was evaluated with the Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD), and the serum levels of NE and 5-HT was detected. Results The HAMD scores after the treatment for 8 weeks were significantly lower than before the treatment in both groups (4.73 ± 3.57vs. 21.49 ± 3.20 in the treatment group, 9.11 ± 3.13vs. 21.11 ± 3.12 in the control group; allP<0.05). The serum levels of NE (137.89 ± 56.81 pg/mlvs. 96.19 ± 36.48 pg/ml in the treatment group, 127.71 ± 54.27 pg/mlvs.96.15 ± 34.33 pg/ml in the control group; allP<0.05) and 5-HT (153.43 ± 24.89 ng/mlvs. 45.03 ± 9.09 ng/ml in the treatment group, 125.31 ± 25.09 ng/mlvs. 44.46 ± 8.17 ng/ml in the control group; allP<0.05) after the treatment for 8 weeks were significantly higher than before the treatment in both groups. After the treatment for 8 weeks, the HAMD score was significantly lower, the serum levels of NE and 5-HT were significantly higher in the treatment group than those in the control group (allP<0.05). ConclusionsHuolisu oral liquid combined with sertraline can significantly decrease HAMD score, and increase serum levels of NE and 5-HT, obviously improve the depression symptoms in patients with postpartum depression due to Qi-Blood Deficiency.
