ABSTRACT
To compare the clinical efficacy of multi-needle shallow puncture with conventional acupuncture for treating simple obesity.

Methods:

According to the principle of evidencebased medicine, 40 simple obesity patients were randomly allocated to a multi-needle shallow puncture group of 20 cases and a conventional acupuncture group of 20 cases.Treatment was given once daily, 20 times in total. Body weight, standard body weight, body mass index, fat percentage, chest circumference, waist circumference and hip circumference were recorded before and after treatment. The obtained data was analyzed.

Results:

Body weight and waist circumference significantly changed in both groups after treatment. The curative effect was significantly better in the multi-needle shallow puncture group than in the conventional acupuncture group (P<0.05).

Conclusion:

Multi-needle shallow puncture has clinically a good effect on simple obesity. Its effect is better than that of conventional acupuncture.
