ABSTRACT
A model of acute myocardial infarction was performed by the ligation of coronary arteries on anaesthetic rabbits. The experimental animals were divided into two groups. In the control group, the left anterior descending artery was ligated below its first branch. In the modified group, the left anterior descending artery as well as the left inferior descending artery of the left ventricle were ligated. The precordial ECG was investigated and recorded continuously. The rabbits after survival 6 hours were killed and their hearts were pulled out. The infarct area of the ventriclar muscle was determined by Nitro-BT staining and the weight percentage of the infarct area was calculated. It was found that the weight percentage of the infarction was 6.7% in the control and 24.7% in modified group.
