Investigation on the Situation of Self-management in 206 Diabetic Patients / 中国药房

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:

To investigate the impact of self-management of diabetic patients on diabetes mellitus and its complication in Chongqing.

METHODS:

Hospitalized diabetic patients were surveyed randomly using questionnaire modified and simplified from diabetes care profile(DCP)and diabetes knowledge test(DKT)designed by Diabetes Research and Training Center of Michigan University.

RESULTS:

Most of diabetic patients showed a low level of self-management. The self-management of young and middle aged diabetic patients was poorer than that of aged patients. The glucose control in patients who received diabetic education was superior to those without receiving diabetic education. The glucose control in patients with regular outpatient follow-up was better than patients followed up by other methods. A large number of diabetic patients combined with cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases got the bad habits of drinking and smoking.

CONCLUSION:

Diabetic education is a important method to improve the self-management of diabetic patients. The conception of diabetic patients on diabetic education in Chongqing should be improved.
