ABSTRACT

Objective:

To itvestigate the effect of Antidepressant on refractory irritable bowel syndrome(IBS).

Methods:

A self-control study of subclincal dosage of antidepressants therapy(fluoxetine 10mg/d or paroxetine 10mg/d) for 12 weeks in 46 patients with refractory IBS was performed.The clinical outcomes were evaluated by indexs of symptom severity and symptom frequency and the score of Hamiton depession scale(HAMD) and Hamiton anxiety(HAMA).

Results:

All 46 cases completed the therapy.After the course of treatment,indexes of symptom severity and symptom frequency and the scores of HAMD and HAMA were significantly lower than those before treatment(P
