Radioimmunoassay was used to determine the immunoreactive met-enkephalin (ir-MEK) contents of several brain areas.The pain threshold (PT) and the ir-MEK contents of striatum and hypothalamus increased markedly by intracerebro-ventricular (icv) injection of substance P (SP,1?g/10?1),no significant change of ir-MEK in hippocampus,and the increased ir-MEK contents and pain threshold were obviously deminished (P
