ABSTRACT
Objective To evaluate the left ventricular systolic function of the patients who received coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), in order to compare the clinical effectiveness of these two operations. Methods 61 patients with coronary artery disease were enrolled in this study. 28 patients received CABG and 33 patients PCI. The left ventricular systolic function was assessed by two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography and Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) (Aspen imaging systems). Results The left ventriculus ejection fraction (EF) and the average velocity of systolic wave (S) of mitral annular were increased after CABG or PCI. There was no statistical significant difference in degree of improvement in the left ventricular systolic function between two operations. Conclusions The results of this study suggested that the global left ventricular systolic function was improved after either successful CABG or PCI, with no signiticant difference in clinical efficaciousness.
