ABSTRACT
Objective The study is aimed to investigate the effects of radiation with red light on ATP contents in animals' liver, skeletal muscle and blood, and further to surmise the effects of the radiation on surmounting the exercise-induced fatigue. Methods 18 French white rabbits, weighed 2.0?0.5 kg,were randomly assigned to 3 groups with 6 animals for eachthe animals in group A acted as control with no treatment by red light radiation;in groups B and C the animals received radiation with red light once a day and 3 hours for each time, the treatment for group B continued for one week and for group C continued for 2 weeks.Once the treatment of red light radiation ended, the venous blood were collected from the ear edge and the animals were executed, the liver tissue and skeletal muscle samples were collected, and then the contents of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NAD),adenosine monophosphate(AMP),adenosine diphosphate(ADP)and adenosine triphosphate(ATP)in the samples were detected. The same collection and detection of samples were also done for the control animals. Results Compared to control group, the levels of NAD,AMP,ADP and ATP in blood samples, liver tissues and skeletal muscles in both groups B and C were significantly higher after red light radiation for certain period. Conclusion Red light radiation is one of the widely-used biotherapies with such advantages as harmless, acceptable, effectiveness on relieving pains, tension and nervousness, for its capability of inducing beneficial bio-reactions in the subcutaneous, muscular and skeletal muscles with possible improvement of exercise-induced fatigue and endurance.Since ATP serves as a key factor in supplying energy for the body and supporting basic cellular respiration, and red light radiation may increase the ATP contents in blood, tissue and muscular,so the radiation may improve the ability of anti-fatigue.
