ABSTRACT

AIM:

To control the quality of Er Chen Pill (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Rhizoma Pinellae, Poria, Radix Glycyrrhizae) by determination of limonene by GC.

METHODS:

HP 6890 GC instrument was employed to determine the content of limonene with column (HP-1 Methyl Siloxane 30m?320?m?0.25?m), detector temperature (250?C), injection temperature (250?C), split ratio (100∶1) and injection amount (1?L).

RESULTS:

The calibration equation was Y=0.9873X+0.0794(r=0.9995) in the range of 0.45?g~ 1.80?g. The average recovery was 99.6%(RSD=6.9%) and the average content of limonene in the sample was 78.4mg?g -1(RSD=3.2%).

Conclusion:

The method is simple, quick, and sensitive.
