Clinical Observation on Combination of TCM and Western Medicine for the Treatment of Diabetic Nephropathy / 广州中医药大学学报

ABSTRACT
[Objective] To investigate the effect of Tangshen Granules (a Qi-strengthening and blood-activating prescription mainly composed of Radix Astragali, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Notoginseng, Radix Puerariae,etc.) combined with irbesartan Tablets (an antagonist of angiotensin Ⅱ receptor) for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy (DN). [Methods] Eighty cases of DN were randomized to two groups: group A ( n = 40) was treated with Tangshen Granules and irbesartan Tablets and group B ( n = 40) with irbesartan Tablets alone as control. The therapeutic effect was observed after 8-week treatment.
