ABSTRACT

Objective:

To examine the antifungal effect of different extraction parts of Euphorbia humifusa in vitro, and measure the minimum inhibition concentrations(MICs).Methods Separated the Dijincao extract and got four parts by solvent extraction.Applied the standard which was approved by the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards(NCCLS)Reference Method for Broth Dilution Antifungal Susceptibility Testing of Filamentous,Fungi(M38-A).MICs of different parts of Dijincao extract against 23 strains of common clinical dermatophytes were investigated. Results Chloroform extract and petroleum ether extract could not get clear and definite MIC because their solubility disturbed the determination of experiment's results. However, water and n-butanol fraction could get definite and clear results. Both of these two parts could clearly inhibit fungal growth. Conclusion Euphorbia humifusa extract parts have antifungnal activity against dermatophytes in vitro.
