ABSTRACT
[Objective] Analyze six differences between TCM and western medicine, which are raised by professor Chen Yi, in order to return the origin of TCM and cal on inheritance. [Methods] This article summarizes insightful views on the inheritance, development and innovation of TCM by professor Chen Yi from fol owing six differences between TCM and western medicine, as theory, thinking, culture, therapy, medication and disease cognition. [Re-sults] TCM, whose theory is based on principle, uses macro-control thinking, roots in Chinese culture, pays attention to syndrome differentiation, chooses one formula for one TCM type, masters herbs by drug properties theory and regards the healthy standard as harmony. While, western medicine, whose theory is based on reality, adopts the micro causal thinking, establishes on western culture, pays attention to disease diagnosing, uses one drug to treat one kind of disease, il ustrates western medicine by molecular formula and copes with causes or lesions of diseases. [Conclusion] Professor Chen Yi analyzes the six differences between TCM and western medicine and emphasizes TCM should be developed and innovated on the basis of inheritance, which is ful of enlightenment in methodology.
