ABSTRACT
Objective To evaluate the effect of hierarchical psychological nursing model during the period of chemotherapy for breast cancer patients so as to provide references for psychological nursing for the patients. Methods Ninety-four patients to undergo first chemotherapy after mastectomy during April to September 2016 were included in the study, subject to the inclusion standards of patient health questionaire-9 (PHQ-9) by depression screening scale≥5 and/or by generalized anxiety scale (GAD-7)≥5before the chemotherapy. 46 cases during April to June 2016 were assigned into the control group and the rest 48 during July to September 2016 into the experimental groupThe former were treated with routine mental care and the latter with hierarchical psychological nursing after investigation with functional assessment of cancer therapy-breast (FACT-B). The two groups were compared in terms of depression, anxiety and life quality at the time points of pre-chemotherapy, the 3rd, 5th and 8th chemotherapy. Results The scores of experimental group and anxiety and the control group at the time points in main effect between group, interactive effect and time main effect were with statrstal significance (P<0.05, P<0.001). After mental intervention, the life quality in the experimental group increased and depression score decreased with the time going (P<0.05, P<0.001). Conclusions The implementation of hierarchical psychological nursing can reduce the negative emotions of patients, improve the quality of life, physical condition, social/family status, emotional status, and additional attention dimension. It is better than ordinary psychological nursing.
