ABSTRACT

Adipose tissue plays a critical role in regulating whole-body energy homeostasis.There are three types of adipose tissues in humanswhite,brown and beige.Both beige and brown adipose burn lipid by dissipating energy in the form of heat and are uniformly referred to as thermogenic adipose tissue.In this review,we will summarize the recent findings in the activation of thermogenic adipose tissue and its therapeutic potential to counteract obesity and its related disorders.
