Evaluation of intravenous and intraperitoneal chemotherapy in advanced gastric cancer / 中国癌症杂志

ABSTRACT

Purpose:

To evaluate the immediate therapeutic effects and toxicities of intraperitoneal versus intravenous chemotherapy in advanced gastric cancer.

Methods:

Sixty one patients were treated with intravenous chemotherapy of leucovorin (CF) , fluorouracil ( 5 Fu) etoposide (Vp16) and intraperitoneal chemotherapy of cis platinum (DDP) in advanced gastric cancer. The short term effects and toxicities were observed.

Results:

The overall response rate was 57.4% and the complete response rate was 9.8% of the 61 patients .Leukopenia was observed in 95.1%, thrombocy topentia were observed in 27.8% of patients . Other side effects were uncommon.

Conclusions:

Intravenous chemotherapy of ELF and intraperitoneal chemotherapy of DDP were effective for advanced gastric cancer and are worthy to be further studied.
