ABSTRACT

AIM:

To set up a new method to analyze IR fingerprint spectra, which was in line with the cha racteristic of traditional Chinese medicine.

METHODS:

In this paper. two new indexes, common peak ratio and variant peak ratio, were applied and its values were calculated by means of the sequential analysis, in which each sample's IR fingerprint spectra was set up and the common peak ratio sequences were arranged in order of size in comparison with other samples.

RESULTS:

The method could distinguish the water extract of Radix Glycyrrhizae of different varieties and different areas.

CONCLUSION:

The dual index sequential analysis enables us to distinct two or more herb's IR fingerprint.
