ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the method and effects of replantation of fingers cut off beyond nail root. Methods 116 patients with 121 fingers cut off beyond nail root were treated with replantation. In most of the operations, only one digital artery and one digital nerve were anastomosed. After operation blood letting through short incision was conducted and hydropathic compress of the heparin sodium was applied. Results 113 fingers survived, and 8 failed. The survival rate was roughly 94%. Conclusions When the finger tip that has been totally or partially cut off beyond the plane of nail root is complete and keeps a digital artery, replantation should be done. If one or two digital nerves are anastomosed, satisfactory appearance and function can be achieved after the finger tip survives.
