ABSTRACT
Amino acids play a significant role in various aspects of life activities such as protein synthesis, immune response, neuroendocrine regulation and organ development. They are also closely related to the growth of preterm infants and the risks of diseases.Clinical application of amino acids in preterm infants should meet the need for catch-up growth, while avoiding adverse prognosis caused by overnutrition.Nutrition-related metabolomics provides new approaches to appropriate nutrition strategiesassessing the effectiveness and safety of supplemental amino acids by comparing different doses of amino acids, discussing reasonable composition of amino acids by comparing different formulas, understanding the characteristics of amino acid metabolism in preterm infants by comparing newborns at different gestational ages, and exploring the relationship between metabolism and growth by comparing newborns at different nutritional status.
