ABSTRACT
Intracranial germ cell tumors (icGCTs) are rare extragonadal neoplasms that mostly occur in children.It is insidious,and its clinical manifestations are diverse according to the location,size of tumors and sex.It often has symptoms of diabetes insipidus,precocious puberty and other hypopituitarism in early stage.A few patients have neuropsychiatric symptoms such as hemiplegia and visual impairment.Diagnosis is mainly based on clinical manifestations,tumor markers,brain imaging,reactivity to experimental radiotherapy and pathological biopsy.Treatment is mainly a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy.Postoperatively,multiple pituitary hormone deficiency is common,and life-long hormone replacement therapy is adopted to ensure growth and development of the children.This article reviews the early diagnosis and treatment of intracranial germ cell tumors.
