A case report of facial skin necrosis by traumatic hematoma

ABSTRACT

contusion occurred from the blunt trauma usually result in edema and hematoma in subcutaneous tissue. The hematoma is characterized by blood coagulation due to vessel injury in subcutaneous tissue. The hematoma will usually resolve without any treatment but, overlying skin can be injurious by deficiency of blood supply if hematoma formation is active. Especially, old people whose capillary vessels are weak and elasticity of skin is poor or patients that have the problem of blood coagulation are usually occur these 74 years old woman who have used aspirin for treatment of hypertension visited oral and maxillofacial department due to traumatic facial hematoma with the skin necrosis. The hematoma was evacuated through extraoral incision. After the evacuation, she was treated with debridement of the necrotic tissue and primary closure. We report the case with the review of literatures.
