ABSTRACT
bone forming activity after osteotomy using ErYAG laser and conventional bur on rabbit mandible. ErYAG laser is not noisy and aseptic, has least complication. Also that is comfortable to many patients. This study was focused to healing process of this two different method on osteotomy. If healing process of this different method on osteotomy is similar, ErYAG laser will be useful instead of conventional bur. After experiment, bone was prepared for light microscopic observation. The results of this study were follows In 2 weeks after osteotomy, there was mild osteoblastic activity and microvascularizaton on both groups. New bone formation of conventional bur preceded that of ErYAG laser, but there was no significance stastically. Thermal injury was not observed in both groups. In 4 weeks after osteotomy, the callus foemation was observed in both groups. New bone formation of conventional bur preceded that of ErYAG laser, but there was no significance. And thermal injury was not observed in both groups. In 8 weeks after osteotomy, the osteotomy site was shown like almost normal bone by remodelling process. New bone formation of conventional bur preceded that of ErYAG laser, but there was no significance stastically. Thermal injury was not observed in both groups. It can be concluded that there is no considerable difference in healing effect between ErYAG laser and conventional bur, so ErYAG laser is available to perform the osteotomy.
