ABSTRACT
Objective To explore the association of body mass index (BMI),waist circumstance (WC)and the risk of hypertension among residents.Methods Multi -stage stratified random sampling was conducted to recruit the study objects in Huai'an City.The questionnaire investigation and body measurement were conducted to collect relevant data. Results The prevalence rates of hypertension in male and female residents of Huai'an City were 28.73% and 28.08%, respectively,with the standardized rates were 20.22% and 19.39%.Influencing factors of hypertension were gender (OR=0.88,95%CI0.815 -0.952),age(OR =1.55,95%CI1.503 -1.601),WC(OR =1.40,95%CI1.294 -1.518),BMI (OR =1.50,95% CI1.417 -1.578 ),respectively.Conclusion BMI and WC were related to hypertension.The control of BMI and WC can prevent hypertension effectively.
