ABSTRACT
Pulmonary surfactant (PS) replacement therapy has been widely used in the treatment of neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS). At present, PS is widely applied with intubation-surfactant-extubation (INSURE). As an invasive operation, INSURE can lead to airway injury and tracheal intubation related complications. Therefore, attention has been paid to minimally invasive surfactant therapy(MIST), including administration of exogenous surfactant by intrapharyngel instillation, nebulization, a laryngeal mask and a thin catheter [less invasive surfactant administration(LISA)]. LISA can reduce the airway injure caused by INSURE administration of exogenous surfactant and decrease the risk of mechanical ventilation and bronchopulmonary dysplasia, so LISA has a good prospect in clinical application. In order to make better and more reasonable use of MIST, this paper describes the current situation and curative effect of MIST on NRDS.
