ABSTRACT

Objective:

To explore the association between isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) gene mutation and prognosis of patients with gliomas by Meta-analysis.

Methods:

A computer-based online search was performed to select the literatures on IDH gene mutation and prognosis of patients with gliomas published in China and abroad by using PubMed, the Cochrance Library, EMbase, Chinese Journal Full-text Database (CNKI), Wanfang database, VIP database and Chinese BioMedical Literature on disc. For the literature that met the inclusion criteria, the basic information was extracted, and the methodological quality evaluation was performed. Then Meta-analysis was performed by using STATA 12.0 and Review Manager 5.3 softwares.

Results:

A total of twelve studies were included, involving 1 905 patients with gliomas. Meta-analysis results showed that the overall survival (OS) of patients with IDH gene mutation was significantly longer than that of non-mutation patients [hazard ratio (HR) = 0.43, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.35-0.52, P < 0.000 1], while the progression-free survival (PFS) of patients with IDH gene mutation was significantly longer than that of non-mutation patients (HR = 0.48, 95% CI = 0.38-0.61, P < 0.000 1).

Conclusion:

IDH gene mutation is closely related to the prognosis of patients with gliomas, suggesting that it may be a favorable factor for the prognosis of patients with gliomas.
