ABSTRACT
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) seriously threatens the health of Chinese people. In recent years, considerable progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of HCC, which has increased efficiency in clinical practice. However, further research is needed for developing a therapeutic strategy and improving prognostic capability. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) was traditionally considered valueless as transcribed noise. But the recent studies have suggested their crucial roles in regulating wide aspects of biological activities. The mechanisms behind these effects have also been being gradually revealed. LncRNA is believed to be involved in the occurrence, development and metastasis of HCC. Through various mechanisms, the alternation of expression levels and activity of specific molecules affect the outcome of HCC. Further investigation of lncRNA may provide new therapeutic targets and prognostic markers for HCC. This review summarized recent research progress on lncRNA in HCC.
