ABSTRACT
Noni (Morinda citrifolia) has been extensively used as folk medicine by Polynesians for more than 2000 years, which mainly contains anthraquinones, phenylpropanoids, flavonoids, terpenes, glycosides, and many other compounds. It receives continuous attention for its variety of medicinal value and health care functions, such as antimicrobial, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anticancer, immunoregulation, antidiabetic, liver protection, cardiovascular protection, and so on. The recent progress in the studies of chemical constituents and their pharmacological activities of this plant are reviewed in this paper by systematic literature research for providing the reference for the further development and comprehensive utilization of the resources of M. citrifolia.
