ABSTRACT
Objective:
To study the chemical constituents from the residue of Glycyrrhiza uralensis. Methods:
Five compounds were separated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and preparative HPLC. The structures were identified by physicochemical properties and spectral analyses. Results:
Five compounds were obtained from 75% ethanol extract of G. uralensis residue and identified as sophoracoumestan C (1), 3β-O-(p-hydroxy-(E)-cinnamoyl)-1-oleanen-28-oic acid (2), 3-oxo-glycyrrhetinic acid (3), sandaracopimaradiene-3β,18-diol acetonide (4), and isopimaradiene-3β,18-diol acetonide (5).Conclusion:
Compound 1 is a new coumarin named sophoracoumestan C. Compounds 2, 4, and 5 are obtained from the plants of Glycyrrhiza Linn. for the first time.
