ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
To study the anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipruritus activities of Margarita compound ointment.METHODS:
The anti-inflammatory activity of Margarita compound ointment was assessed by the mouse skin wound healing model and peritonea] capillary permeability increase model. The analgesic effect was tested by writhing test in mice. The antipruritus effect was evaluated by dextran-induced itching models. And the anti-granuloma effect was observed by cotton embedding ball test in rats.RESULTS:
A shortened skin wound healing time of mouse was observed in the high-dose groups of Margarita compound ointment (P<0.05). Margarita compound ointment at different doses could obviously decrease the exudation of abdominal blood capillaries, the numbers of writhing of mice caused by acetic acid and scratching frequency induced by dextran (P<0.01, 0.05). And Margarita compound ointment could inhibit the cotton ball-induced granuloma hyperplasia of rats in moderate- and high-dose groups (P<0.01, 0.05).CONCLUSION:
Margarita compound ointment has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipruritus effects in mice and rats.
