ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
To study the chemical constituents in the leaves of Toona sinensis Roemor.METHODS:
Silica gel column chromatography and preparative high performance liquid chromatography were used to isolate constituents from dichloromethane and ethyl acetate portion of ethanol extract of this Chinese medicine. Subsequently, the chemical structures were elucidated by NMR spectral data and physical and chemical properties.RESULTS:
Eight compounds are isolated and elucidated as scopoletin(I), 4, 7-dimethoxy-5-methylcoumarin (II), (+)-catechin(III), quercetin-3-O-α-L-rhamopyranoside(IV), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-rhamopyrano-side(V), l, 2, 3, 4, 6-penta-O-galloyl-β-D-glucopyranose(VI), astragalin (VII) and ethyl gallate(VIII).CONCLUSION:
Except for compounds IV, VI-VIII, the other four compounds are isolated from Toona sinensis Roemor for the first time, and compound V is for the first time isolated from Toona genus. Copyright 2013 by the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association.
