ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:

To study the chemical constituents of the stem and leaves of Bauhinia glauca (Wall, ex Benth.) Benth. subsp. hupehana (Craib) T. Chen.

METHODS:

The plant material was extracted with acetone at room temperature. The chemical constituents were isolated by chromatographic methods and their structures were identified by spectroscopic analysis.

RESULTS:

Five compounds were obtained and identified as (2', 4'-dihydroxy-4-methoxychalcone)-4'-β-Z)-glucoside(1), bauhiniasin (2), sulfuretin(3), isoliquiritigenin(4), and 4'-methylglucoliquiritigenin(5).

CONCLUSION:

Compound 1 is a new natural product, and this is the first time to find compounds 2 and 4 in this plant and compounds 3 and 5 in this genus.
