ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:

To study the chemical constituents of Axinella sp. from the South China Sea.

METHODS:

The compounds were isolated and purified by silica gel, Sephadex LH-20, and semi-preparative reverse-phase HPLC(C18). Their structures were identified by their spectral data.

RESULTS:

Ten compounds were isolated from Axinella sp. and their structures were identified as cyclo-(Val-Pro) (1), cyclo-(Tyr-Pro) (2), cyclo-(Phe-Pro) (3), cyclo-(Leu-Pro) (4), cyclo-(Ile-Pro) (5), 2'-deoxyinosine (6), 2'-deoxyadenosine(7), spongothymidine (8), spongouridine (9) and 2'-deoxyuridine (10).

CONCLUSION:

All the compounds were isolated from Callyspongia sp. for the first time.
