Research Progress on Etiology and Treatment of Achalasia / 胃肠病学

ABSTRACT
Achalasia is an esophageal motility disorder with an annual incidence of about 1/10 000, and the incidence has been increasing in recent years. The clinical manifestations include dysphagia, chest pain, and regurgitation, etc. Achalasia seriously affects the patient's quality of life, and the severe disease may increase the risk of esophageal carcinoma or even be life threatening with sudden death. At present, the etiology of achalasia is not fully clarified, and the advantages and disadvantages of various treatment modalities are different. This article summarized the research progress on etiology and treatment of achalasia in recent years.
