ABSTRACT

Objective:

To observe the correlation between CT quantification of epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) and coronary artery disease (CAD) using meta-analysis.

Methods:

Case-control studies on the relationship between CT quantification of EAT and CAD in CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, PubMed, Web of science and Medline were searched before December 31, 2019. The standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95%CI between CAD group and non-CAD group was analyzed using Stata 12.0 software.

Results:

Totally 19 articles (5 129 cases in CAD group and 7 434 cases in non-CAD group) were included. Meta-analysis showed that the thickness (SMD=0.46, 95%CI [0.26, 0.66], P<0.01) and volume (SMD=0.65, 95%CI[0.46, 0.86], P<0.01) of EAT in CAD group were larger than those in non-CAD group.

Conclusion:

CT quantitative EAT was correlated with CAD.
