ABSTRACT
Exosomes, as endogenous Nano-vesicles, contain important genetic information and functional molecules, which play an important role in signal transmission between cells. Exosomes can pass through the blood-brain barrier and establish communication between peripheral circulation and the central nervous system, which makes them the potential biomarkers and novel remedies for nervous system diseases. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the leading causes of death and disability of patients at all ages. Its diagnosis and treatment are still full of challenges. The authors summarize the biological characteristics of exosomes and the research progress in exosomes for diagnosis and treatment of TBI, so as to provide new ideas for the study of TBI.
