ABSTRACT
Objective:
To synthesize amide functionalized graphene oxide nanoribbons (GONRs-AM) and investigate their adsorption performance for uranium. Methods:
Characterization of the synthesized GONRs-AM was made by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The effects of solution pH, adsorbent dosage, adsorption time, initial uranium concentration, temperature and ionic strength on the uranium adsorption on GONRs-AM were investigated by using batch adsorption experiments. Results:
The maximum adsorption capacity of GONRs-AM for uranium was 294.5 mg/g, and the adsorption process was a spontaneous exothermic process influenced by pH, which was consistent with the quasi-second-order kinetic model and the Langmuir model. Conclusions:
As an adsorbent, GONRs-AM can effectively adsorb uranium from aqueous solution and can be used to separate uranium from radioactive wastewater.
