ABSTRACT
Uterine artery embolization (UAE) is an invasive radiological technique applied in treatment of gynecological and obstetric problems. Cesarean scar pregnancy, cervical pregnancy, and severe postpartum hemorrhage are common obstetric conditions that may require UAE. However, UAE could also cause various complications in clinical practice, some of which can lead to infertility in women, and even disability and death. According to the onset time, the complications are divided into three categories, namely onset-within-24-hour, early-onset, and late-onset complications in this review. Clinicians should be aware of and provide timely management of these complications when using this technique.
