ABSTRACT

Objective:

Investigate the status quo and existing problems of medical researcherscognition on scientific research data management in a tertiary hospital in Jiangsu Province, provide reference for improving the overall scientific research management and policy-making in hospitals.

Methods:

The convenient sampling method was adopted. A questionnaire survey on research data cognition was conducted among medical staff, full-time researchers and research management personnel. The statistical analysis was performed by software SPSS 25.0, and the difference was statistically significant at P <0.05.

Results:

A total number of 200 questionnaires were collected in this study. The main way for researchers to obtain data is laboratory experiments, and the main way to obtain the original data of others is the public database on the internet. Nearly 70.0% (140 people) lost the data because they did not take good care of the scientific research data. The number of required project teams and encouraged peers to submit to data management agencies were 146 (73.0%) and 160 (80.0%), respectively. 57.0% had used other people's raw data. Among which researchers had post-graduate degrees are the highest.

Conclusions:

Researchers have poor data preservation and are willing to share scientific research data, but lack professional knowledge and skills; at the hospital level, scientific research personnel should be trained in relevant scientific data management to improve the cognitive ability of scientific research data protection and sharing. It is necessary to establish a scientific data preservation system and be equipped with necessary facilities for data storage, management, service and security to ensure the integrity and safety of scientific data. Related policies should be developed to enhance the innovation and reform of scientific research management.
