ABSTRACT
Type 1 diabetes(T1D)is an autoimmune disease , mediated by T cell and characterized by the destruction of islet cells. At present, insulin replacement therapy is the main therapeutic method in clinical practice.Insulin can effectively control hyperglycemia as well as improve the survival time and quality of life of patients, but it cannot cure T1D.Complications arise as the disease progresses, such as nephropathy, neuropathy and retinopathy, and may seriously threaten patients′ physical and mental health and increase their economic burden. With the deepening research on the etiology and pathogenesis of T1D, immunotherapy may prevent and reverse T1D.This article will summarize recent immunotherapy researches in T1D.
