ABSTRACT

Objective:

To investigate the incidence of hyperuricemia(HUA)and its influencing factors in the elderly dwelling in Huli District, Xiamen, to provide reference for monitoring and intervention of risk factors.

Methods:

A retrospective analysis was performed on 3 650 residents aged 60-80 years who lived in the Huli District of Xiamen city for more than half a year from January to December 2019.Their lifestyle, physical health examination and laboratory test results were analyzed, and the incidence of HUA was studied.Multivariate stepwise Logistic regression was used to analyze the relevant influencing factors for the incidence of HUA.

Results:

Of the 3 650 adults, HUA patients accounted for 25.84%(943 cases), and the incidence of HUA was high in male, elderly, overweight, smoking and drinking( χ2=243.826, 8.325, 64.348, 65.632, 114.808 and 41.213, P<0.05). The levels of serum creatinine and urea nitrogen were higher, glomerular filtration rate was lower and blood triglyceride level was lower in the elderly with HUA than without HUA( χ2=58.126, 307.161, 132.119 and 47.702, all P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that gender, overweight, alcohol consumption, hypertension, high levels of blood urea nitrogen and creatinine, low glomerular filtration rate and high level of blood triglyceride were risk factors for HUA( P<0.05).

Conclusions:

The incidence of HUA is high in the elderly, and it is associated with poor lifestyle and poor health-related clinical indicators. The relevant risk factors for HUA should be well monitored and timely intervened in the elderly, so as to reduce the HUA incidence and the impact of HUA on the quality of life in the elderly.
