ABSTRACT
Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is a common disease in men. In recent years, it has become younger, which seriously affects the patientsquality of life. A deep understanding of the pathogenesis of CP/CPPS will help the choice of treatment. Its pathogenesis is not only related to immune factors, but also related to local microcirculation disorders of the prostate, endocrine hormone imbalance, adjacent gut microbes and compression of lumbar intervertebral disc, but it has not been fully elucidated. Therefore, this article aims to review the pathogenesis of CP/CPPS and provide directions for its diagnosis and treatment.
