ABSTRACT
Victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse for whom psychiatric evaluation and treatment are essential are susceptible to post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other psychopathologies resulting from psychological trauma. In the case of children and adolescent victims, pedagogical support measures related to educational neglect are essential. In such a process, it is necessary for psychiatrists to provide psychiatric evaluation and expert opinion reports. Various ministries in Korea have established their own support agencies and provide assistance on individual violence issues. Evidence-based intervention programs should be actively pursued to overcome current inadequacies such as overlapping agencies, lack of expertise, and lack of interagency connection. Moreover, it is necessary to develop and establish an active linkage system with local ‘Sunflower’ Centers.
