Adesão ao Aleitamento Materno Exclusivo em Bebês de 0 a 6 Meses Nascidos em um Hospital e Maternidade do Município de São Paulo / Exclusive Breastfeeding Adhesion of Babies from 0 to 6 Months Born in a Hospital and Maternity of São Paulo City

RESUMO

Objetivo:Investigar a adesão de aleitamento materno (AM) em um Hospital Amigo da Criança em São Paulo. Metodologia:Estudo longitudinal, prospectivo de abordagem quali-quantitativa e observacional realizado com 40 mães de recém-nascidos e lactentes à termo, no período de fevereiro a agosto de 2018. Os dados foram coletados por meio de entrevistas com as mães entre o 7o e o 10o dia de vida do lactente, no 3o mês e no 6o mês de vida, respectivamente. As variáveis estudadas foram: características socioeconômicas e maternas, aleitamento materno exclusivo (AME), aleitamento materno (AM), substitutos do leite materno em caso de desmame, período e motivos do desmame, orientações recebidas durante a internação e após a alta hospitalar.Resultados: 67,5% das mães mantiveram o AM até o 6o mês de vida do lactente, destas, 12,5% mantiveram o AME, com significância estatística (p=0,009), 42% das mães tinham complementado a alimentação do lactente aos 3 meses de idade (p=0,000). Dentre os alimentos utilizados na introdução precoce, os que mais foram citados: papas, água, petit suisse e suco natural (p<0,05). 95% das puérperas declararam ter recebido orientação sobre AM no hospital durante o período de internação. Conclusão:Apesar da maioria das mulheres terem mantido o AM durante os 6 meses do estudo, somente 12,5% conseguiram manter a exclusividade até o 6o mês, mesmo depois de receberem orientações sobre os benefícios do AME. ABSTRACT

Objective: To investigate the adherence of breastfeeding in a Baby-Friendly Hospital in São Paulo. Methodology: Prospective, quantitative and cross-sectional study approach with 40 mothers of newborns and full-term infants from February to August 2018. Data were collected through interviews with mothers between the 7th and 10th day of the infant's life, in the 3rd month and in the 6th month of life respectively. The variables studied were: socioeconomic and maternal characteristics, exclusive breastfeeding, partial breastfeeding, breast milk substitutes in case of weaning, weaning period and reasons, guidelines received during hospitalization and after hospital discharge. Results: 67.5% of the mothers maintained breastfeedinguntil the 6th month of life, of which 12% maintained the exclusive breastfeeding with statistical significance (p = 0.009), and 42% were supplementing the infant feeding at 3 months of age (p = 0.000). Among the food used in the early introduction, the most mentioned were: potatoes, water, petit suisse and natural juice (p<0.05). 95% of postpartum women reported having received counseling about breastfeeding at the hospital during the hospitalization period.Conclusion: Although the majority of women maintained breastfeeding during the 6 months of the study, only 12.5% were able to maintain it exclusively until the 6th month, even after receiving guidance on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding.
