Neurocirugía Pediátrica y Bioética: un vínculo necesario / Pediatric Neurosurgery and Bioethics: an essential tie

RESUMEN

La bioética constituye el estudio de la conducta humana en el campo de las ciencias biológicas y la atención de la salud. La actividad médica y neuroquirúrgica requiere de conocimientos técnicos y, además, muchas veces es necesario una reflexión ética sobre las decisiones que se adoptan en relación a los pacientes. En el presente trabajo se describen los principios y valores de la bioética, y se analizan situaciones clínico quirúrgicas que plantean dilemas éticos malformaciones congénitas, cirugía fetal, craniectomía descompresiva, estimulación cerebral profunda, etc. Se concluye que el neurocirujano debe tener formación técnica y humanista basada en valores éticos

ABSTRACT

Bioethics is the study of human behavior in the fields of biological sciences and health care. Medical and neurosurgical activity requires technical skills and, also, many times it is necessary an ethical reflection about decisions related to patients. In this paper we describe the principles and values of bioethics and we analyze clinical-surgical situations that pose ethical dilemmas congenital malformations, fetal surgery, deep brain stimulation, decompressive craniectomy, etc. We agreed that the neurosurgeon must have technical and humanistic training based on ethical values
