Cumplimiento del marco de seguridad desde la perspectiva del paciente en el servicio de cirugía general del Hospital Aeronáutico Central / Fullfillment of security framework from the patient’s perspective in the general surgery department of the Hospital Aeronáutico Central

RESUMEN

Introducción: la seguridad de los pacientes durante la atención médica ha alcanzado una gran relevancia, debiendo garantizar las necesidades de salud en las mejores condiciones posibles. Las listas de verificación se encuentran vigentes, buscando disminuir riesgos, evitar eventos adversos prevenibles y generar una reducción de morbimortalidad, estadías hospitalarias y costos en salud. Objetivos: Determinar el cumplimiento de la lista de verificación para una cirugía segura en el paciente quirúrgico desde la perspectiva del paciente. Establecer su satisfacción en cuanto al marco de seguridad dentro de quirófano. Material y métodos: Estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo y prospectivo basado en encuestas a 583 pacientes operados en el Servicio de Cirugía General en el periodo de 01 de noviembre 2014–31 de agosto 2015. Resultados: Preoperatorio: 91.93% (536) respondió que se sintió en un ambiente médico continente, 97.9 4% (571) se sintió seguro antes de subir a quirófano. 94.85% (553) contestó que el médico completó la lista en su presencia. Quirófano: 92.97% (542) contestó que el médico completó la lista en su presencia. 93.99% (548) respondió que se sintió en un ambiente continente y seguro. Postoperatorio: 91.94% (536) contestó que el médico completó la lista en su presencia. Conclusiones: Debemos abarcar al paciente en su totalidad, más allá del ámbito quirúrgico, debiendo considerar la lista de verificación para el paciente hospitalario, que implique consultorio externo, internación y postoperatorio ambulatorio. Debemos extrapolar nuestra cultura de seguridad del paciente quirúrgico hacia una nueva cultura de calidad del paciente hospitalario.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The safety of patients during medical care hasreached great relevance and must ensure the health needs in thebest possible conditions. Checklists are in force seeking to reducerisks, avoid preventable adverse events and generate a reductionof morbidity, hospital stays and health costs.Objectives: Determine fulfillment of the checklist for safe surgeryin surgical patients from the patient’s perspective. Establish their satisfaction with the security framework in the operating room.Material and methods: Quantitative, descriptive and prospectivestudy based on surveys of 583 patients operated by the GeneralSurgery Department in the period of November 1, 2014 – August31, 2015.Results: Preoperative: 91,93% (536) said they felt in a medicalsetting continent, 97,94% (571) felt safe before going to theoperating room, 94,85% (553) answered the doctor completed thelist in his presence. Operating room: 92,97% (542) replied thedoctor completed the list in his presence. 93,99% (548) felt in amedical safe and setting continent. Postoperative: 91,94% (536)answered the doctor completed the list in his presence. Conclusions: We must cover the patient completely, beyond the surgical environment, and must consider checklist for the hospital patient, involving consulting room, hospitalization and outpatient postoperative. We must extrapolate our safety culture of the surgical patient to a new quality culture of the hospital patient.
