RESUMEN

ste artículo surge de la experiencia, estudio y análisis del fenómeno de cutting o cortes en la piel que se auto infringieron 48 estudiantes entre los 11 y 18 años de edad, en el marco del acompañamiento psicológico realizado en una institución educativa de la ciudad de Medellín durante el año 2014, el cual intenta aproximarse a la comprensión de las causas y la función del cutting, así como las representaciones que tienen los sujetos con esta práctica. ¿Es el cutting un intento de suicidio? Veremos que el fenómeno tiene efectos sociales, culturales y psicológicos, que posibilitan la comprensión de que el acto de cortarse es un llamado para conseguir un lugar significante en el campo del Otro a quien desean intranquilizar para ser vistos y reconocidos

ABSTRACT

This article derives from the study and analysis of the cutting self-inflicted by 48 students ages 11 through 18, within the framework of the psychological attention they received in an educational institution in Medellin in 2014. The study approaches the causes and function of cutting, as well as the representations that the subjects had of this practice. Is cutting a suicide attempt? This phenomenon has social, cultural, and psychological effects that allow for an understanding of the act of self-injury as a call to get a significant place in the field of the Other, whom the cutters wish to disquiet in order to be seen and recognized.
